MTData's New Taxi System
MTData's Taxi System is designed to offer
new levels of functionality and flexibility for
companies to run and manage their
businesses in today's constantly changing
marketplace.
Technology has evolved at an amazing
rate over the last 15 years and MTData's
Taxi System is able to deliver exciting
benefits by taking advantage of these new
technologies.
Imagine a fully flexible open architecture
system where all data is accessible, with
real-time and fully customizable reporting,
improved communications speed and
reliability and graphical mobile units
offering a new range of driver features.
It has at last arrived with MTData's Taxi
System.
Windows & SQL Server
The MTData Taxi System uses the
Microsoft Windows Server 2003
operating system, SQL Server database
engine and .net technology. This results in
an open system built on a standard
platform meaning all data is customer
accessible. Developing the system using
.net means remote system access for
company management and support staff,
remote call takers and many other
possibilities are now available.
Fully Flexible Area Creation
One of the most important advances
with MTData's new taxi system is the
ability to define complex shaped areas
which accurately depict the real areas.
Area creation tools are part of the street
directory editor which includes graphical
map overlays to make the job of creating
areas simple with the confidence of
knowing exactly where the area
boundaries really are.
System Options
All system options and features are
selectable and configurable by the
customer. This gives you the flexibility to
change and modify your system
configuration without the need to
constantly rely on MTData for support to
perform routine changes.
Booking Entry
The booking screen has been designed to
allow fast and efficient data entry combined
with the ability to capture the range of
booking information for simple cash
bookings to complex account or contract
work. Utilising a graphical user interface
(GUI) combined with hotkey operation
ensures the system delivers high speed
booking entry designed to meet the
demands of a taxi call centre.
External Booking Software Interface
The need to increase call centre automation
and offer taxi users choices of how they
book a taxi are now more important than
ever. The MTData Taxi System provides a
standard external booking software interface
for 3rd party developers and solution
providers to easily integrate their solutions
with the booking and dispatch system. All
functionality available at a call taker level will
be accessible via this interface. By providing
such an interface each taxi company is able
to add booking channels (such as IVR, SMS,
internet) as new technologies become
available.
Web Ready
The internet has revolutionalised the way
we do business today. The MTData Taxi
System has been developed so it is ready to
embrace web based services such as
remote call taking, taxi operator access for
fleet reporting and track and trace functions.
More Taxi Industry Tools
We recognize that a taxi dispatch system is
now one part of a broader business
solution. The MTData Taxi System includes
expanded functionality to integrate many
essential taxi industry needs such as
complaints handling, driver discipline, fleet
operations and CRM.
Dispatch Methods
The MTData Taxi System provides an easy
to use editor to define your preferred
dispatch algorithm. All the popular
dispatch methodologies are available such
as rank and area plotting, GPS area and
GPS dispatch. Advanced dispatch
methods such as rosters and auction
dispatch are also available.
Bureau Systems
The MTData system provides full support
for multi-city and multiple fleets within a
city bureau operation. All system options
are fully configurable at a fleet level, and it
is even possible to define totally different
areas for each fleet within a city if this is a
requirement.
Communications
The full potential of any taxi dispatch
system can only be realized if supported
by a robust and fast communications
infrastructure. MTData has invested
heavily in developing new techniques
which will maximize possible data rates
and offer high reliability with existing PMR
(private mobile radio) networks.
The MTData Taxi System
uses the latest OFDM (orthogonal frequency-division
multiplexing) modulation techniques to
achieve increased data rates over PMR
networks. In addition, a new over-the-air
radio protocol has been developed which
will significantly increase channel capacity
by minimizing wasted idle time.
Supplementary
communications using GPRS is a standard feature which
will
expand the coverage area of a taxi
company's radio network, improve
redundancy in the event of PMR channel
failure and essentially eliminate
communications failures such as 'lost
contacts'.
In-Vehicle Solution
The MTData in-vehicle solution uses a 7"
WVGA Windows CE.net touch screen in
conjunction with a revolutionary wireless
keypad. The keypad is provided with a
special cradle which allows it to charge
whilst installed in the vehicle.
The keypad will allow a driver to easily
access all on-screen functions when using
the touch screen is not practical (eg. when
driving) or is not possible. With a range of
100 metres, it will be possible for bookings
and messages to be accepted by a driver
whilst out of the vehicle.
An Integrated Communications Unit
(ICU) provides all the intelligence and
processing functions including the PMR
modem, GPRS modem and an internal
12-channel Trimble IQ GPS receiver.
Eliminating system tampering is an
important objective of MTData's new Taxi
System. The internal GPS receiver will be
able to detect and report a disconnected
antenna and if abnormal events are
recorded by the system, a detailed vehicle
trace can be initiated with regular and
detailed vehicle status reports.
Driver Security
Improving driver security is another
important aim of MTData's Taxi System.
The wireless keypad supports a remote
alarm feature which allows a driver to
initiate an alarm even if out of the vehicle.
